KSU College of Business Administration New Building, Manhattan, KS

MEP Budget $10,800,000. OSE teamed with The Ebert Mayo Design Group and PGAV Architects to design a new building to house the College of Business Administration. The building will include classrooms, offices, conference rooms, and a large atrium entry space. The design includes connecting the building to the existing campus utilities including chilled water, steam, and the campus 12.5kV electrical system. The building will utilize LED lighting in the offices, classrooms, and many other areas of the building. A 4-pipe chilled water and heating hot water system will be utilized to heat and cool the spaces in the building using air handlers and fan coil units. The project is schedule to be complete for the start of the fall 2016 semester.

KSU Berney Family Welcome Center, Manhattan, KS

Orazem & Scalora Engineering provided a master plan prior to completing the MEP design of a new Welcome Center for Kansas State University. OSE teamed with the Ebert Mayo Design Group for the complete renovation of East Memorial Stadium to provide a new center for prospective students and families, and a center for companies recruiting students for employment opportunities. The project included a large entry lobby, multimedia lecture hall, offices, and green roof for a sustainable renovation. Total Construction budget: $11.5 million.

KSU Mosier Hall Research Center Remodel, Manhattan, KS

MEP Cost $3,240,000, 16,800 GSF. Design of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical systems for a renovation of Mosier Hall at Kansas State University that will support two university research centers: The Institute of Computational Comparative Medicine (ICCM) and the Nanotechnology Innovation Center of Kansas State (NICKS).

KSU Trotter Hall Library Remodel, Manhattan, KS

MEP Cost $390,000, 9,790 GSF. Design of HVAC, plumbing, lighting and electrical systems for a renovation of the existing library space on the 4th floor of Trotter Hall. An LED lighting system with dimming capability was utilized to provide improved lighting of the space. New study/break-out spaces with built-in AV systems provide a technology-driven work environment for the students and staff. The existing HVAC system was modified to allow for reuse of the existing central air handling unit. New dual duct boxes were used to redistribute the air to the new spaces. The staff work areas were updated using a modular wall system that will allow for future modification. OSE coordinated with the modular wall provider to ensure that all data and power devices were installed to meet the Owner's needs.

KSU West Memorial Stadium Renovation / Purple Masque Theatre, Manhattan, KS

MEP Cost $1,500,000. Design of new HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical systems for the renovation of the 41,000 SF building. The renovation included 14,300 SF of finished area including the new Purple Masque Theatre, and 26,700 SF of unfinished shell space. The new area for the Purple Masque Theatre included a theater with thrust stage, catwalk system for theatrical lighting, dressing rooms, a workshop for building sets, a space for costume design, and various other support spaces. The design also included a new lobby area with a ticket window and concessions stand. OSE designed the mechanical system to utilize campus chilled water and steam. The design required in-depth coordination and analysis to fit all of the systems within the confines of the existing curved and wedge-shaped structure.

KSU Call Hall & Kedzie Hall HVAC Systems Replacement Study & Design, Manhattan, KS

MEP Cost $5,500,000. Development of scope and budget and the design for the replacement and improvement of existing HVAC systems and associated electrical distribution, controls and general construction work. System improvements included occupant comfort, system efficiency, indoor air quality, condensate return system, building automation, and metering of building utilities.

KSU Ackert Hall Improvements, Manhattan, KS

Ackert Hall roof structure removal and replacement required dismantling HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical distribution serving multiple laboratories. Demolition and replacement of services to the Biology Department laboratories as well as new plumbing and heating for the rooftop greenhouse were designed. All MEP systems were designed to meet the requirements of the current building, mechanical plumbing and electrical codes.

KSU Student Union Enhancement, Manhattan, KS

MEP Cost $4,300,000. Design of modifications to existing HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems throughout the existing 240,000 sq. ft. building. System improvements were designed to allow the building to remain occupied during the phased renovation project. OSE analyzed numerous energy conservation measures, some of which were funded by the State Building Energy Conservation Program. Funded measures included enhanced energy management system, lighting system improvements, and HVAC equipment motor replacements. Improvements included ADA accessibility and life safety work such as new fire alarm, rescue call and fire protection systems.

Manhattan Christian College Jolliffe Hall Renovation, Manhattan, KS

MEP Cost $780,000. Design of new HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm and electrical systems for the complete renovation of a four story administrative and classroom building into a state of the art classroom and library building. HVAC systems included a central variable air volume system, direct digital controls and condensing heating water boilers.

KSU Center for Child Development, Manhattan, KS

MEP Cost $1,100,000. Design of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical systems for a new 32,000 sq. ft., 2-level child care center that includes infant rooms, classrooms, offices, kitchen, multipurpose room, and support spaces.

KSU Parking Structure, Manhattan, KS

MEP Cost $1,491,000. Design of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire protection systems for a 444,000 SF parking garage for 1,400 vehicles on four levels. The project includes 7,000 SF office space for the campus Parking Services Department and a connection bridge to the Student Union building. The design also included re-routing of the campus 15kV electrical loop across the site and transfer of the Student Union Building's electrical service to the new 12,470 volt distribution.

KSU Konza Prairie Biological Research Station, Manhattan, KS

MEP Cost $170,000. Design of new HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems for the renovation of an existing 5,000 SF barn originally built in 1911, to become an ecology research facility for scientific meetings, workshops and public education programs that attract over 5,000 scientists and students to the Konza annually.

KSU Mark A. Chapman Gallery - Willard Hall / Manhattan, KS

Design of new HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and fire alarm for a 1,720 sq. ft. renovated space in Willard Hall to house a new art gallery. OSE's design work included a new HVAC system that would be served from the existing campus chilled water and steam services, new lighting and lighting controls capable of lighting changing art exhibits, new general power for the space, and new fire alarm devices.
