Thomas

Thomas Orazem P.E., LEED AP, Principal

A founding partner, Tom has more than 35 years of experience in design of mechanical, electrical, lighting and plumbing systems for architectural projects. For most of his professional career as a Project Manager he has directed the engineering of building systems with his personal design work and supervision of professional staff of all disciplines. Tom's project experience ranges from small renovations to high-rise office buildings and hotels. In his personal time Tom enjoys spending time with his family, woodworking, brewing beer, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.

 

David

David Griffith P.E., LEED AP, Principal

David has more than 15 years of experience in the design of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems at Orazem & Scalora Engineering. David became a principal of the firm in 2015. With a variety of successful LEED projects in his portfolio, most notably the Flint Hills Discovery Center. David's experience with sustainable design and energy efficient systems brings him to the forefront on many demanding projects. David has successfully managed and designed multiple projects for a variety of clientele. David's most recent projects include The College of Business at Kansas State University and a major renovation of the Kansas State University Student Union. David also has extensive experience in building communication infrastructure, automated lighting control, theatrical lighting, and HVAC controls. David received his B.S. degree in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University in 2001. In his free time David enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and pheasant hunting.

Gerit

Gerit Garman P.E., LEED AP, Principal

Gerit has more than 12 years of experience in the design of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems at Orazem & Scalora Engineering. Projects of note include the Tallgrass Brewery, Tallgrass Taphouse, USD 364 Marysville Bond Additions & Improvements, KSU Mosier Hall ICCM/NICKS Renovation, KSU O.H. Kruse Feed Technology Innovation Center, Manhattan Public Library Children's Library Expansion, and USD 383 Bluemont Elementary School Renovation. Before working at OSE he performed Construction Administration work for an addition to and renovation of the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas. Gerit received his B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University in 2002. Outside of work his time is devoted to his wife Amanda and their five children: Layla, Alec, Ella, Axton, and Lilly.

Bradley

Bradley Ross P.E., Principal

Brad has more than 10 years experience in design of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Prior to joining OSE in 2010 Brad primarily worked on MEP designs for healthcare facilities including Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City and Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, MO. Since joining OSE Brad has contributed to the designs of the Flint Hills Discovery Center, The College of Business at Kansas State University, the USD 320 Wamego Public Schools Bond Improvements, and numerous other school and university renovations. Brad earned a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University in 2008. In his free time Brad enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, hunting, and fishing.

 

Hillary

Hillary Velasco P.E., Design Engineer

Hillary graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering in May of 2014. While at OSE, she has contributed to the designs of various projects including KSU College of Business Administration, Tallgrass Taphouse, and Rock Springs 4H Center Staff Housing building. During her free time, Hillary enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, photography, and woodworking.

 

Jared

Jared Rogers P.E., Design Engineer

Jared began working at OSE in 2012 as an intern while attending Kansas State University. After graduating from KSU with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering and a minor in Business in May of 2015 he joined the team as a full time engineer. He has contributed to the design for numerous projects including The KSU Student Union Renovation, KSU Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, The KSU Purple Masque Theater, and The KSU College of Business Administration. Away from the office, Jared enjoys going for walks with his wife and their two dogs, woodworking, hunting, and working on the family farm.

 

James

James Scalora P.E., LEED AP, Senior Engineer Emeritus

A founding partner, Jim has more than 35 years of experience in design of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for architectural, municipal utility and specialized technical facility projects. Jim excels on projects that offer new challenges requiring innovative designs. Jim also has a long history of experience in design and installation of digital control and energy management systems. Jim enjoys building furniture and canoeing in his spare time. He also likes serving as sous chef for family culinary events. Jim retired from full-time employment on December 31, 2017.
